Family Life

Yesterday, Richard and I did our usual Saturday bike ride in Moss Park. We went there early morning before the crowds poured in for lunchtime picnics. When we parked the car, I saw two Sandhill cranes about 100 yards from the car and I told Richard I wanted to see if I could get closer to them to get a photo. I not only got very close, they followed me back to the car! I’ve got a little Fugi pocket camera that I carry with me on rides and Richard and I clicked off a couple of dozen pics of these magnificant birds.
Later in the morning, we were biking in a different part of the park, which is a few hundred acres in size. We spotted an unusual creature we had never seen before. It had a black head and shoulders, tan body, huge fluffy tail. I thought it might be in the marmoset family. We found some rangers who told us we saw a Sherman Fox Squirrel. It was twice the size of our normal Florida squirrels. It’s a shy creature. Doesn’t like humans.
There’s more photos of our Moss Park adventure in the Media Gallery.

Media Gallery? Hmm, I guess I have to take a closer look.
Anyway, what a lovely encounter and a great picture.
Sorry that the media gallery isn’t up yet. A bad infection has be sidelined a bit. Hope to get it up soon.
